Plot
In the country of Eldinoch, political stabily is slowly disappearing. With the King old and without an heir, two main noble families have a claim to the throne, and the country has been split in two. The supporters of the Geldenwichs are mostly in the north, and the Sudors are to the south, although all the nobilty have choosen a side to support, mostly through distant relations. The Geldenwich's have long been favourates of the King, a powerful family that have been aristocrats for as long as most can recall. It is, in fact, so large a family that there are many branches, but they all know their where their loyalties lie - within the family's greater interests, by making their heir (second cousin to His Majesty's sister), Zekeal Elor Geldenwich, the sure successor. The Sudor's made their way to the top by a lucky financial flip a few generations before now. They bought out lands of an old Duke with no heir, and made a strong impression at court of being fashionable, strong and clever. However, as a united front they may seem, many believe that their family life behind doors is far from calm. Their heir, is a closer relative, (neice of His Majesty) to the throne than the Geldenwiches, but their hidden divisions within the family could mean they do not get a clean inheritance. But with the King confined to his rooms in illness, rivalry between the families has reached a peak beyond previous petty disagreements. The Duke of Parla, a strong aristocrat who was well known as a trickster, and strongly backing the Sudors, was found dead in his appartment in court. It was believed that assassins, under the pay of the Geldenwiches, had killed him in his sleep. It was later discovered that Parla had been spying on the Geldenwichs.

With a sigh, she fastened her earrings and flashed herself a winning smile in the mirror. Her room was small considering her relations, but then again, she was not the demanding type. The new gown, a christmas gift from her father, was slightly short. He probably thought her a year younger than she was. She was sixteen, just two days ago. Her brother had forgotten as had her father. They'd never have forgotten her sister's sixteenth, if it had even happened. The face staring morbidly into the mirror was pale and freckled. The pale hair that framed it was wispy and fine. Her sister would have looked dazzling in such a gown as this and her golden hair would have peeked out of her hood like a flower's bloom. But her sister wasn't here, not someone to compare herself to, Elmora confirmed. She was herself, pretty in her own way, just not the jewel that Anne had been... She was doing it again. She adjusted her hood when the door opened with a bang. "Mora!" Her brother sang delightedly, "The birthday girl!" She turned with a sarcastic grin, "Oh, lovely, if only you'd relised it two days ago," His grin dropped. "I- I'm sorry, El, I-" "Forget it. It's the masked dance today, then?" "Yes, I believe. But the news-Parna's been killed." "Oh," Elmora stared. The Duke had always been kind to her, wether or not he supported them, and he was the second son of his father. His brother had died when he was younger, and she had glazed the impression that he had also experienced the suffering and grief that she did. But he had supported the foul Sudors, and look what had become of it. "Was it father?" she asked, a twinge of regret in her voice. "El, don't be like that. He betrayed us. This is for the advancements of the Geldenwichs. We shall claim what is rightfully ours," "Whatever we may overturn in our way, and you didn't answer my question, either," Elmora muttered sardonically, but she shook away her pitiful thoughts. She gave a smile up to her elder brother, who soon dropped his worried face and lit up with his courtier's cheerful, energetic self. The perfect courtier was a grand actor, as everybody knew. He quickly examined his attire, straightening his jacket and puffing his shirt sleeves before taking my hand and leading us out of Elmora's quarters. Togther, they headed toward the ballroom, wondering how the news of the murder had been taken by their fellow courtiers.

((Hm, I might join... but, if I may say so, shouldn't this be in the 'Ancient Times' category? ^^;; It seems closer to historical fiction than medieval fantasy.
And, if I join, may I play the Sudor heir? I've got an idea for her character...)) [/size]

ooc//... That's a good point, I kind of though of Ancient Times as 'Ancient' times, rather than Historic Roleplay. My error. But then again, it is made up, although based in a real period, so it fantasy of a sort; and it is evidentally medieval. But if it comes to it, can you move topics? It may only Admin that do that and if not I might just copy and paste. Sure, you may join, but I forgot to mention that I like people to send me their profiles so it is corrected if it needs that, and then I add to the character list in the library. Just to add your character, since they are a female heir, would not be allowed to inherit in their own right; they would have to marry to claim it legally, but it may be feminism is an issue that characters support/don't like in the roleplay, and could be involved.

Character's Name: Dacian Rem Sulvyrger
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Family they support: Geldenwich
Relation to the heir: Cousin
Physical Description: Tall and slightly tanned, had red hair with brown eyes and usually wears any clothes of the middle class even though he is not.
Personality: He hates politics and disgusted with the state of affairs between the two families, he finds it all so futile and silly. He is more concerned with the state of the people in the country and their problems.
Status at court: Middle
History: Living with only his mother, as his mother had run away from his father taking him with her. His mother usually left him alone as she worked very hard and was hardly ever home. Dacian spent alot of his childhood spending time with his cousions, he especially played with Elmora and could not play with Zekeal because he was being raised as a Duke's son and he was afraid of their father.
(There is my character, I decided to make him quite different. Is it all ok?)

ooc//Yes, it's great. I may play someone in the Sudor's, although not as a main character like Elmora or Zekeal-it might be the heirs father.

Dacian entered the ballroom, as usual he immediatley got stares from the way he dressed as he people whispered about him as he passed. He saw Elmora and her brother and headed towards them. "Greetings." He said with a smile as he pulled out a flower for Elmora. "I thought you might like this."

"Thankyou!" Elmora smiled pleasantly. Dacian was her eccentric cousin; a boy with a disgust of politics and the disagrements of families. His clothes were another example of how he was out of the ordinary--he wore clothes of the middle class even though he was a noble. Despite the fact he was four years her senior, Elmora often found herself regarding him as though he was younger; he was naive and believed strongly in notions such as treatment of peasants and (sorry if he doesn't, just say and I'll edit) marrying for love. Part of Elmora sympathysied and wished she could agree, but the other half told her she relied on her family to live, and as a girl, must support their views of bringing power to the generations of Geldenwiches to come.
Zekeal had barely acknowledged Dacian and continued to scan the room for his father, the Duke. There he was, across the room, speaking with the Queen; a woman edging into her fifties and stick thin--she was expected to not survive if plague visited this summer as it usually did. But Elmora respected the Queen, she was a tough character who firmly believed fate had decided the course of life and everything happened for a reason. She had been through alot in her younger life, with two miscarrages and a stillborn. Currently the Duke was talking fast--it seemed her Majesty had heard about Parma; she looked tense and frailer than usual and anger seemed on the brink of emergence. Her Majesty, while the King was ill, often spoke out on his views and everyone knew he regarded her highly and knew she could have them punished if she believed it was right.
Zekeal gave Elmora a tap of apology, a slight nod to Dacian and strode across the room, a beaming smile upon his face. Her Majesty brightened to see him, he had always treated her gracefully. Equal to the role, he gave her an exaggerated large bow and smiled at her warmly before leaning to the defence of his father in the heated debate that was taking place.
Elmora turned to Dacian with a sigh. "Poor Parma..he was a fool. But why Father had to be so harsh.. It's hot in here." Elmora declared, grasping Dacian's arm with sudden decisiveness. "Let's get some fresh air in the garden. I don't want to spoil my sixteenth over some political argument. Father and Zekeal will worm their way out, you'll see."

(Its fine.)
"You do not have to tell me twice, I abore these politics. As for Parma it is always so harsh, people do whatever it takes to get what they want and hardly think of others." He took a breath as he saw them arguing to the side, it really did make him feel sick. All of this and for what really, the world had so much more important things then who was in charge and got to have all the power and things that come with it. He then felt her arm grab him as he was jerked away, he did not fight and allowed her to lead him away.
"As much as I hate to admit it, these gardens are sometimes quiet amazing. Plants are so simply with their beauty and lack of hatred and war. Anyway, enough of this borish nonsense. Are you enjoying your sixteenth, soon it will almost be time for you to marry." He said with a mean kind of smirk.
